Is there a way to make the cutover painless?

Not really.

But we can make the process easier by knowing the major steps to consider as you transition from UA to GA4.

What about your historic Google Analytics data?

You will lose access to your Universal Analytics (GA3) data on Dec. 31, 2023.

You read that correctly.

All of your GA3 will no longer be accessible at the end of the year.

Depending on your priorities,  this could be a scary situation.

(Or you may not care)

If you want to retain any of your historical GA3 data you will have to export and archive it before the end of the year.
